Greg Lein was raised in Huntsville, AL, and attended Auburn University, where he received a bachelors’ degree in Wildlife Science in 1991, and a masters’ degree in Fisheries Science in 1995. During his career, Greg has worked as a field biologist in the southwest and southeastern U.S., working with rare and endangered mammals, amphibians, and fish.
Greg has worked within the Conservation Department since 1996, where he helped with the Forever Wild Land Trust to buy new conservation lands for public recreation and unique wildlife habitats, and served in an administrative role in the State Lands Division. Since 2012 Greg has worked in the Conservation Department’s State Parks Division, where he serves as the Director of State Parks. Greg and his family have been residents of Montgomery since 1997.
