Jason Wilson is a 5th Generation Alabamian, and the first member of his family to graduate college. In 2005, after receiving a degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management from the Auburn University College of Business, Wilson joined current Back Forty Beer Company COO, Tripp Collins, as a logistics analyst for Georgia Pacific.
In 2008, after hundreds of brewery visits, Wilson made the decision to found Back Forty Beer Company in his hometown of Gadsden, Alabama. After raising $31,000 from friends and family members, and with help from longtime friend, attorney and 2004 Auburn graduate, David Carn, Back Forty Beer Company brewed their first batch under contract at a facility in Mississippi. After two years of contract production, Back Forty Beer Company was able to secure an SBA small business loan, which allowed for the renovation and construction of their 27,000 square foot factory in Historic Downtown Gadsden.
Today, Back Forty Beer Company is the largest producer of alcohol in the State of Alabama, and Wilson currently serves as President of the Alabama Brewers Guild as well as a member of the Business Council of Alabama’s Board of Directors. The company’s mission is to produce quality craft beers, with an intense focus on innovation, sustainability and continuous improvement, while not losing our Southern accents.
